Dixieland Rhythm Kings
The ever-popular Dixieland Rhythm Kings return to Ayr Jazz Festival this year .
Line-up is
Mike Daly (cornet/leader): Inspired by Bix Beiderbecke and Bobby Hackett which is evident in his splendid cornet playing. Worked in his early years with trumpeter Duncan Whyte and trombonist John Service who has recently joined forces with Chris Barber, before forming his Dixieland Rhythm Kings. Has also worked with show bands, cabaret and trio work with Tommy Evans and Stephen Coutts.
Jack Murray (trombone & vocals): Jack has been playing since the late 1950's having been a member of the Esquire Jazz Band as well as Forrie Cairns and The Clansmen who played along-side Louis Armstrong on several cabaret tours. Also worked with Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk
Kit Carey (banjo/vocals):
Kit toured Canada and the UK with the Clyde Valley Stompers and in 1985 formed
the Kit Carey Jazz Band. Kit also plays with the Sydney Zenith Hot
Stompers and recently re-launched his own band.
Tommy Evans (string bass): Tommy has performed with and backed many famous musicians including Ruby Braff, Martin Taylor, Acker Bilk and Bud Freeman to name but a few. Provides an excellent driving bass which keeps the music "alive".
