NEW CENTURY RAGTIME
ORCHESTRA

THE
NEW CENTURY RAGTIME ORCHESTRA
Now grown to an imposing
eleven pieces, this outstanding and unique band from the North East of England
plays music from the turn of the last century to the late 1920’s and early
1930’s, from ragtime to hot jazz, Scott Joplin to Duke Ellington, by way of
the Hot Dance music of bands such as the California Ramblers and the Charleston
Chasers. Meticulous attention is
paid to the original scores, and added attractions include the Annette Hanshaw
styled singing of Caroline Irwin, the virtuoso banjo of Keith Stephen and the
superb saxophone (and witty remarks) of Steve Andrews, who fronts the orchestra
in his own inimitable fashion.
Appearing
Sunday afternoon.
