DAVE DONOHOE BAND
Line-up: Bill Evans (drums): Tom Kincaid (piano): Dave Donohoe (trombone): Jim Swinnerton (bass): Malcolm Horne (banjo, guitar): Frank Brooker (reeds) Teddy Fullick (trumpet).
Trombonist,
Dave Donohoe, began playing around Manchester in 1960 and since 1973 has led one of the best New Orleans style bands in the country.
He has visited New Orleans and has shared a stage with such legendary greats as
Kid Ory and Doctor John and "jammed" with the Fats Domino Band at
London's Festival Hall. He has recorded three albums with Sammy Rimington.
Dave believes that New Orleans music is a style rather than a repertoire, and therefore the band doesn't restrict itself to popular jazz standards. He will draw on any song that lends itself to a good melody and the right swing and rhythmic approach.
His band consists of handpicked musicians which includes such well known names as Teddy Fullick (trumpet), Frank Brooker (reeds), Jim Swinnerton (bass), Tom Kincaid (piano), Mal Horne (banjo) and Bill Evans (drums).
Appearing Saturday evening (Station Hotel) , Sunday (church service at St. Leonards) and Sunday evening (Savoy Park)
